Celestopedia (formerly the Astronomy Wiki) is a wiki that documents topics related to Astronomy, Astrophysics, Cosmology, and more.

The wiki had over 8,035 pages in mid-2024, but was reset and moved from Miraheze to being self-hosted. Currently, it has 69 pages.

History[edit | edit source]

Miraheze era[edit | edit source]

Celestopedia was created as Astronomy Wiki by Anpang on 28 August 2021 at the URL space.miraheze.org. It stayed at a ~300 pages and ~20 users, with some sporadic activity for a while. The wiki was marked as inactive due to the Miraheze Dormancy Policy at times. At the end of this period of little activity, a user named NoodleRLMJ unsuccessfully tried to take control.

In mid-2023, Miraheze announced it was closing down, so the wiki migrated to WikiTide. Activity started coming back up, and there were some new editors. The skin was changed from Timeless to Citizen, and the icon changed. It stayed on WikiTide for a while, then briefly moved to self-hosting. On 1 October 2023, the wiki moved back to Miraheze, which wasn't closing down after all.

Independent era[edit | edit source]

Soon, plans were made to move Celestopedia to becoming self-hosted again. The new Celestopedia was launched on 13 September 2024 as version 9.0, and the last update to the old Celestopedia, 8.4.0, was pushed on 15 September 2024.
